Tall Grass In Prairie

Grass tall enough to hide all but the head of a rider on horseback once covered what is now known as Prairie Township.  In the early days when Central Ohio was being settled as a Virginia Military Land Tract, pioneer families looked to the land and timber to raise crops and families.  Settlers came to the area from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New York and some from the foreign lands of Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, France and Wales.  The earliest land survey was in 1796.
