Original Blue Light Special

Most people when they hear the words “blue light” they think of the “Blue Light Specials” at the local K-Mart store.  But a former Grove City resident and member of the historical society might have the edge on that commercial promotion.The late Captain Raymond Ruoff who retired from the Grove City Police Department, instituted his own “blue light” special back in the 1970’s when he removed the red lights on police vehicles and replacing them with blue.  Why?  It seems local residents took less offence when stopped by police for a traffic violation with blue lights.
