(The following was written by Lewis Garrison, and is reprinted from 1927’s “Grove City - The Town with a Future”, available at the Grove City Welcome Center and Museum. Any opinions made in the article are from the author.)Rolla W. White, Dry GoodsMr. White has been engaged in the dry goods business in Grove City for the past 10 years. That he is an experienced man in the line is testified to from the fact that for 13 years he was a salesman on the road for the wholesale house of Green, Joyce and Company, Columbus. At the inception of the retail business he was joined by T.J. Boyd, which partnership lasted until 4 years ago when Mr. White took over the entire business. The stock carried is large and comprehensive, consisting of general dry goods, shoes, rugs, linoleums, bed springs and mattresses. Men's furnishings are also stocked. Mr. White is the local fire chief and has the honor of being one of the charter members of the recently established Masonic Lodge.
