The Grove City Water Problem

(The following was written by Mary C. Borror, and is reprinted from “Reflections”, a collection of local stories available at the Grove City Welcome Center and Museum). When Grove City drilled for water near the present E.L. Evans Senior Citizens Center, 4330 Dudley Avenue, as is evident from the water towers still standing there. When Grove City ran a test to determine the capacity of their new well, our well of 173 feet deep went dry.  We had to have drinking water and we got it by putting a 10 gallon milk can in the car and carried water to the house from a cistern we had to supply water for bathroom service. When the test was completed our water vein came back and we had no more trouble. We lived 3 miles south of town.
