Legacy - A Poem

(The following poem was written by Yvette L. Maurey in 1986, and is reprinted from “Reflections”, a collection of local stories available at the Grove City Welcome Center and Museum).

Legacy

Our old streets have old historic namesOf early people who never intended fame.

But their names will remembered be;They settled the land here for you & me.

Failed crops; victims of disease;Death of loved ones, couldn’t make them leave.

They wanted freedom; a place to live;Working the land, gave all they could give.
